Sick and Sculpting

Ever started something that you wanted to do for a long time and right when you got to do it, you fell sick???

That just happened to me last week.....

It was mid October and there I was sculpting my all time favorite superhero The Batman, it was a nice sculpt and the mould came out to be pretty good and smooth. I later cast fiber resin into it and let it cure for a day and finally the sculpture was finished.

So I rubbed it off and made some final adjustments with sand paper, then I started painting it with enamel paints (black and silver mix). I left the portion for the face and painted the res. This is how it looks for now,

Pocket Sketchbook - Sketch Anywhere!! Anytime!!

It is so good to carry a pocket size sketchbook along with you, it lets you pen down your ideas then and there. Pocket sketchbooks are most useful for those studying figure drawing, as they would want to capture different poses and gestures they come across everyday. And why am I carrying one??

The answer is simple, I rarely get ideas for characters and I make sure that I capture those ideas when they hit me and that exactly is why I carry a pocket sketchbook with me.

The sketchbook I carry around was actually made by me, it is of A5 size with 50 sheets, spiral bound and with a celtic knot design on the front cover which I cropped out.

I just carry a marker along with me, so the detail and boldness of the sketch depends on the marker that I'm using. Well here are some sketches from the pocketbook,

SVG Again

Scalable Vector Graphics(SVG), I am really getting a grip of it and I keep practicing this when ever I get free time on a browser. This time, I went a little too far and this is what happened,

Cartoons and Comic-strips everyday =P =D B]

I made it a point to draw one everyday, and not everyone of those sketches and doodles happen to be good.

Ink-mania: Hatching Fury

There's nothing better than trying out a new fountain pen, that too by drawing something with it. I haven't drawn anything using this technique for a while now. Well, here it is a random portrait done in ink,

Two more Bobs XP

I had done two more portraits of Bob Marley and I am planning to draw even more of him. This man's songs have changed pretty much everything about me. I would suggest a few but it si better to go listen to all of em. Let's say start with three little birds and jammin, I'm pretty sure you will like his songs and I welcome you to the world of Reggae.

Here are the portraits,

Jack Ahoy!!!!

Amidst studying facial features and proportions, was watching pirates of the Caribbean: At world's End. Now now, we all know it is an awesome movie, what I am gonna say is "Aaaarrrrrrrrggghhhhh matey!!! it is a splendid time to draw a portrait". ; )

In one of the movies Jack says this,

Jack Sparrow: Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

Hahahaa!!! XD

Well here is the portrait I drew,

SVG Study

Alright, It is time for techi-design stuff like one of my earlier posts The Bat, this one has also been uploaded to codepen. I didn't get much views for this though, yet I was pretty much satisfied with the outcome.

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is what I used to design this vector of a Greek helm. It did take a while to do it and you can have a look at the code here and for those who don't want to see all the messy coding, :P

For those who are really good at vector art, I am pretty sure you will enjoy this and caution use latest browsers or atleast recent versions for compatibility. Haffun!!! XD

A tribute to Steve Jobs

Every time I saw this picture, I just remember the last few days of my college life 'cause that is when I drew this absolutely brilliant pose by Steve. Steve had just passed away back then and it was all that people ever talked about. So, i decided to draw his portrait to honor the man for all his out-of-earth innovations.

I chose charcoal as medium because it was comparatively flexible and doesn't shine after finishing like graphite. I was pretty new to using graphite and after eight whole hours of focus and pain I finished the portrait. And goooossssshhhh..... I made such a mess of the place.

The beard and hair broke my finger, drawing them was such a pain but I enjoyed every moment of it.

BOB: Two Years Back

Been more than two years and this portrait still brings back good old memories. I chose one of Bob's famous poses and tried rendering it on paper. It took me hours before I was done. Well, I wasn't quite satisfied with the outcome so here it is,

Distorted as you can see, I was just a beginner back and I know that I haven't come far from being a beginner. Hoping that I will be good one day, I will continue posting more of my recent works.

I got first my ever graphic tablet, a Wacom Bamboo pen & touch. And here's the very first sketch i drew on it.

The sketch was done on MyPaint a free software.

Shall come up more sketches using this tablet, I find this to be fun and interesting.

From the Vault

It is so good to see the work i had done a few years back. Just when I was learning, so here are some sketches from the vault.

This is just another sketch from my imagination and the first time I created an Image out of negative space,

Sketchdump - 001

From Pocket Sketchbook

The below images are from a mini pocket sketchbook I carry to work. I love this little book as I made it myself and designed its cover with Celtic knots.

So here are the sketches,

Tribute to Bob and Jimi

Well... These guys are long gone and are known for what they do. Performers if someone might call 'em. I would call 'em as sages, that's right sages.

I did do a caricature of my favorite ones Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix. And here is how it looks,

They were quick sketches with a fountain pen so please do not look much into the details. Even though I am not so good at drawing caricatures like one of my friends do, I am happy that i could come up with this at least.

More posts coming up as it is a weekend.

Adios!

First Step to Glory!!

Hi!!

I am very excited, because this is my very first blog entry with some content in it.

For a long time I have been venturing into the world of web-design and I stumbled upon this great website where I can play with web-design and share it with my friends.

CodePen is a playground for the front end side of the web. It's all about inspiration, education, and sharing. It also allows the user to add libraries like moo tools, jquery, etc. So feel free and start creating your own pens and share'em with your buddies..

So I gave it a shot and voila!! came up with this,

The above picture of Bat you see was completely made out of CSS scripts and DIV tags. Not to get too technical with it, here's the link to the pen I created.Chrome or Firefox is preferred to view it on codepen.

Hope I get to post more this week.
